Documentary filmmakers increase funder support
Challenge
A documentary film unit needed quick turnaround funding for the final development of a national documentary. The film featured an important but controversial character in the health and medical field.
Methods
To maximize the filmmakers’ chances of receiving funding, Access Philanthropy helped them reframe how they described their project. We also tracked down 14 funders with a history of funding less traditional health organizations.
Results
Within the first month of working with Access Philanthropy, one funder awarded $45,000 to the documentary unit. Two others awarded smaller grants within three months. The documentary went on to be well received and even win awards.Â
