Overview: Small community foundation in a small, but growing community. Most funds are allocated through donor advised funds, with undesignated grants generally awarded to cultural and educational activities. The foundation awards 8-10 grants annually. Seventy percent of grants are awarded to the annual recipients.

The foundation has a special relationship with the new Southern Utah University to which several donor-designated grants are awarded. The Leavitt foundation is the family foundation of Mike Leavitt, US Secretary of Health & Human Services.

NOTE: Recently the foundation has been criticized for its role in allowing the Dixie and Anne Leavitt Family to pass through a grant of $500,000 to Southern Utah University which the school used to pay for student housing to a Leavitt family-owned business.
