| Business notes: |
Pulte recently merged with Centex Homes in a $3.1 billion move that each company say will save the life of both businesses. |
Overview: NOTE: The corporation recently announced it is temporarily closing its charitable giving program due to financial restraints.
Pulte Homes' Charitable Giving Program is committed to addressing the life challenges facing individuals and families by partnering with organizations that will have a significant positive impact on the future of our society. Recognizing our strength in the housing industry and our mission of providing vital communities and environments for our homeowners and our employees, our focus is in four primary categories:
1. Housing Our aim is to help improve lives via programs that focus on self-help homebuilding or providing affordable shelter and related support services for the working poor.
2. Education We financially support universities that seek to expand and enhance their educational and research programs supporting the education of young people in all aspects of Residential Homebuilding.
We also offer select scholarships to women and minority students majoring in Construction Management and Building Science to encourage more students to enter this field.
3. Environment We seek out projects that conserve resources by improving the energy efficiency of homes or reducing material usage. We will also focus on major projects that improve community environments or enhance outdoor recreational activities.
4. Health and Human Services This category includes social service programs that help the underprivileged or abused, support activities that build skills and develop leadership in our youth, and programs that promote art and cultural programs as an enriching experience for community members.
NOTE: The corporation does not provide a full list of its grants, but does provide a sampling of recent high profile gifts
